Le Cabanon needs your help! They are launching their crowdfunding campaign, and you can participate until November 1, 2025.

A brand new community project is about to see the light of day at the intersection of Hochelaga and Centre-Sud: Le Cabanon, a self-managed tool and object library. On September 15, the collective is launching a crowdfunding campaign to purchase shared equipment and finalize the layout of its spaces. The official opening is scheduled for November 1.

The Project:

In 2021, more than 500 people responded to a survey expressing the need for access to a tool library in the neighborhood. Three years later, a citizen committee, with the support of LESPACEMAKER, brought this idea to life by creating Le Cabanon.

The concept is simple: allow citizens to borrow DIY, gardening, cooking, or camping tools and equipment at low cost, much like borrowing a book from the library.

It’s an eco-friendly, affordable, community-based alternative to individual ownership. The project is self-managed by a group of volunteers who are committed to fighting waste and empowering communities.

The Campaign:

Le Cabanon is launching its crowdfunding campaign via the La Ruche platform with a goal of $10,000. Thanks to the Fonds Moins c’est Plus, every dollar raised will be doubled if the goal is reached, injecting $20,000 into the project.

Contributions will be used to:

  • acquire new equipment to share,
  • complete the layout of the spaces,
  • prepare for the opening to the public in November.

In exchange for their contribution, participants will receive various rewards: service subscriptions, T-shirts, or even an invitation to the launch party.
